At Siobhan & Associates (S&A) Psychotherapy, we understand that finding the right therapist can be a difficult and overwhelming process. That's why we offer a 15-minute free consultation to help you determine whether our services are the right fit for you.
During this consultation, we'll take the time to listen to your concerns and assess your needs. We'll ask questions about your mental health history, your current situation, and your goals for therapy. This information helps us determine whether we can provide you with the support and resources you need to improve your mental health and well-being.
If we believe that our services are not the best fit for your needs, we'll use our expertise and knowledge of the mental health field to refer you to other appropriate resources and or services that may better meet your needs. Our goal is to help you access the best support possible, whether that is through our services or another provider.
Our 15-minute consultation is an opportunity for you to get to know us and for us to get to know you. We believe that building a strong therapeutic relationship is essential for successful therapy, and we hope that this consultation will be the first step towards a positive and productive relationship.
At Siobhan and Associates (S&A) Psychotherapy, we understand the importance of accessibility and convenience when it comes to therapy appointments. As a start-up, developing company, we are currently offering remote/online appointments only. This includes telephone appointments or video calls via Microsoft Teams or Zoom, depending on your preference and access.
We acknowledge that some clients may prefer in-person/face-to-face appointments, and we are open to considering this as we grow and develop as a company. However, at this time, we are prioritizing the safety and comfort of our clients by offering remote/online appointments.
Many people find that remote therapy offers greater flexibility and accessibility and research has shown that remote therapy is just as effective as in-person therapy.
During your first therapy assessment, you will have an opportunity to discuss your concerns and experiences with a trained therapist. The therapist will listen carefully and ask questions to better understand your situation and needs. You can expect the session to last approximately 50 minutes.
This first assessment session is an opportunity for both you and the therapist to determine if therapy is the right choice for you and if so, what approach would be best suited to your needs. You will have the choice to opt in and opt out of treatment at the end of this assessment.
If you and the therapist agree that therapy is appropriate and a treatment plan is developed, you will progress into treatment. Treatment may involve a variety of therapeutic techniques, depending on your unique needs and preferences.
Please note that the first assessment is a confidential and non-judgmental session, where the therapist's primary goal is to gain a deeper understanding of your situation and help you feel comfortable and supported.
At Siobhan and Associates (S&A) Psychotherapy, we understand the importance of receiving timely therapy services. As a developing service, we strive to offer our clients an initial 15 minute free consultation as soon as possible but no later than 14 days following your initial enquiry. We value your time and recognise the importance of beginning the therapeutic process in a timely manner.
It is important to note that as a small developing company there may be times when we cannot accept new clients due to a high volume of existing clients. In such cases, we will temporarily close appointments and look forward to offering our services again once there is room for further growth.
We appreciate your understanding and look forward to working with you to achieve your goals towards mental health and well-being.
At Siobhan & Associates (S&A) Psychotherapy, we understand that life can be busy and unpredictable. That's why we aim to offer flexible scheduling options for our patients, while also ensuring consistency in their therapy. Our general practice is to see patients on a weekly basis for therapy sessions, as this is often the most effective way to establish and maintain progress. However, we also recognize that some patients may have scheduling conflicts or other circumstances that require a more flexible approach. In such cases, we will work with our patients to find a suitable schedule that meets their needs while ensuring that their treatment is still effective. Ultimately, our goal is to provide individualized, evidence-based treatment that works best for each patient's unique circumstances.
Confidentiality is a fundamental aspect of therapy and is crucial to building trust and establishing a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship. As therapists, We are committed to maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of our clients and their information. This means that everything you share with us is confidential, except in certain specific circumstances where it is necessary to breach confidentiality in order to protect the client or others.
One such circumstance is when a client is at risk of harm to themselves or others. In these situations, it may be necessary to disclose information to appropriate third parties, such as emergency services, family members, or other healthcare professionals, in order to ensure the client's safety and well-being.
It is important to note that any breach of confidentiality is done only after careful consideration and consultation with relevant professionals, and always with the client's best interests in mind. We will always strive to discuss any potential breaches with our clients before they occur, wherever possible.
The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) is an independent organization in the UK that provides guidance and recommendations to healthcare professionals, including those in the mental health field. Their guidelines are based on the best available evidence and aim to improve the quality of care and outcomes for patients.
At Siobhan & Associates (S&A) Psychotherapy, we are committed to providing evidence-based practice in line with NICE guidelines. This means that we take a structured and collaborative approach to treatment, using interventions that have been shown to be effective in clinical trials.
We work with our clients to develop a personalized treatment plan, which may include various therapeutic modalities such as cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT). Our goal is to provide a safe and non-judgmental space for our clients to explore their thoughts and feelings and to support them in achieving their treatment goals.
We regularly review our practice to ensure that we are providing the most up-to-date and effective interventions. We also collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as GPs and psychiatrists, to ensure that our clients receive comprehensive and integrated care.
Overall, our commitment to evidence-based practice and adherence to NICE guidelines allows us to provide high-quality, effective, and individualized care to our clients.
At Siobhan and Associates (S&A) Psychotherapy, we take the safety and well-being of our clients very seriously. It is important to know what to do in case of an emergency or if you feel unable to keep yourself safe. Please be aware that we do not offer a mental health crisis service, and as such, all clients are responsible for their own safety.
In the event of an emergency or if you feel unable to keep yourself safe, we strongly encourage you to adhere to the risk management/safety plan agreed with your therapist and discuss this during the next session with your therapist. Additionally, we recommend that you contact your GP or NHS 111 for support.
Alternatively, you can attend your local walk-in centre or Accident and Emergency (A&E) Department, or if you are in the event of an emergency, please dial 999 without delay.
